Sapling Distribution

Once the young saplings are ready for planting the PGH Team distributes them to those people and organizations within the need-identified zones, who have expressed a desire and commitment to be involved in the Project. Free sapling distribution is a critical element in the PGH awareness campaign as it provides the perfect opportunity to let people know about the larger aims of the project and to encourage them to get involved.

Free saplings are distributed in special public meetings, often attended by local dignitaries and celebrities, where the Project is promoted and celebrated. In an innovative approach, PGH has managed to distribute free saplings in various marriage ceremonies as demanded by the community. Each person and organization is issued with a PGH Registration number which facilitates subsequent monitoring and evaluation.

PGH expects the free sapling distribution to instigate an experience for the planter which will bring him closer to the environment and nature.

PGH has distributed 78,500 saplings to farmers, students, various other organizations and general public from January to July 2009.
